if you are replacing an old shower mixer then you need to consider your pipe centres, most new shower valves have pipe centres fixed at 150mm. However, most old showers have differing pipe centres that can vary from 130mm upto 160mm. The newly redesigned Ergo exposed round shower (modern design) and Churchmans round valve (traditional design) are perfect solutions with adjustable pipe centres.
